CleanTurn Enterprises, a for-profit social enterprise focused on providing employment for individuals who have had significant obstacles to employment, has created more than 400 jobs and made a more than 200 million dollar impact on the community.
John Rush, president and CEO of CleanTurn Enterprises, has a story to tell. From his upbringing in Appalachian poverty in West Virginia to his time spent living on the west-side of Chicago and service in the Marine Corps, John has a long and unique history of social entrepreneurship, which makes him the perfect person to champion the relationship between our Columbus business community and individuals in unique situations seeking employment.
“It’s not shutting a door because of a person’s past; it’s understanding a person’s past so as to create the right culture in your corporation that can help the individual to move forward,” notes Rush.
This conversation is important for our business community, especially here in Columbus. There are over 20,000 individuals who are returning from incarceration every year and Franklin County is the second-highest recipient of those individuals, which lends to the idea that there is great opportunity in the market for those facing employment barriers through proper training and support.
Tune in for an enlightening conversation on accountability, entrepreneurship and the spirit of empathy. This is one you don’t want to miss.
