(DUBLIN, OH: March 17, 2021) – EasyIT, a leading IT managed service provider headquartered out of  Dublin, OH, has today publicly announced their completion of the rigorous and highly selective SOC 2 –  TYPE 2 audit examination.

SOC, or System and Organization Controls, are comprised of a full suite of reports produced through  official audits and examination on different areas of internal controls and processes. Controls represent all the mechanisms, rules and procedures that ensure the integrity of a company’s financial information,  reliable financial reporting and both legal and regulatory compliance.

All SOC audits are conducted by CPA’s that are accredited by the American Institute of Certified Public  Accountants (AICPA). This certification is particularly important in response to recent financial industry  legislation requiring all vendors of financial institutions to be SOC 2 TYPE 2 certified before being hired.

There are three total SOC reports, labeled SOC 1, SOC 2 and SOC 3.

  • SOC 1 is an audit on the internal controls used for Financial Reporting.
  • SOC 2 then, is similar to a SOC 1 audit, but focuses on the internal controls used for what’s called  “Trust Services Criteria.” This criteria consists of all internal controls relevant to security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality and/or privacy.
  • Finally, SOC 3 reports are generally just a summary of the SOC 2 TYPE 2 report with less specifics  and detail.

In each of these SOC audit processes, TYPE 1 is applied when a company says they have proper controls in  place and TYPE 2 is applied when a company proves the controls in place are effective and work as  intended. A SOC 2 TYPE 2 certification is no easy feat considering the large cost involved, the multiple  interviews and testing of all employees and the open, full disclosure of all control practices to guarantee  transparency and compliance.

The completion of EasyIT’s SOC 2 TYPE 2 audit comes just over one year after completion of their SOC 2  Type 1 certification and now opens the door for the company as a certified, licensed vendor available to  work in all areas of the financial sector.

“The successful completion of our SOC 2 Type 2 examination audit was no small effort,” said Kurt Hoeft,  CEO of EasyIT. “We truly believe data and information are one of the most valuable business assets of an  organization, and EasyIT is structured to provide the necessary protection to mitigate risks associated with  the use and processing of any information collected during business operations.”

SOC audit reports play an important role in showing the oversight of an organization, vendor management  programs, internal corporate governance and risk management processes and are used as regulatory  oversight.
