We memorialize the loss of our founder, Dave Ahlum, with a new adventure! Stay on the lookout for an exciting announcement January 1, 2022, but until then take a minute to join us on a journey through Dave’s history! Our history not only defines where we come from, but it helps us align our goals for the future. We are QUALITY rooted in HISTORY.

The seed was planted in the early 1970’s as Dave began working at his uncle’s tree service company. Quickly learning the ropes, this experience sparked his life-long passion for tree preservation. August 12, 1977 marked the true beginning of what was then called Arbor, Inc.

In 2003, the company’s name was changed from Arbor, Inc. to Ahlum & Arbor Tree Preservation. In 2006, the Ahlums realized they needed to relocate to a commercial property that would allow Ahlum & Arbor Tree Preservation to expand and grow with its continued business. They bought land at 1740 Walcutt Road Columbus, Ohio and in 2013 broke ground on the new building.

In February 2017, Dave was diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). With Dave’s health an uncertainty, it was decided that he would retire that August. After 47 years of hard work and dedication to the tree care industry, Dave passed the reigns of CEO to his son, Chris. Dave created a legacy by building a family-owned business from the ground up. He spent 40 years following and implementing his unique vision for a professional tree care company and Ahlum & Arbor remains steadfast to his passion.
