COLUMBUS, OHIO – City Year sites in Columbus and Cleveland have joined forces to host a community conversation around the events of 2020: a year of social unrest, changes to daily life in our communities and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The two sites will host the collaborative panel discussion which will also focus on the importance of supporting racial equity and social justice work in the corporate community.
Community members are invited to join City Year’s Ohio sites for this free virtual event, “Advancing Racial Equity Beyond 2020,” from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on May 19.
The event will feature the following panelists: Dr. Mark Lomax (Community Research and Grants Management Officer at the Columbus Foundation), Dr. Adrianne Fletcher (Assistant Dean for Diversity & Inclusion at Case Western Reserve University), Gregory Jones (Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer at Keybank), and Priscilla Hammonds (Assistant Vice President, Diversity & Inclusion and Community Relations at Grange Insurance Co.). The conversation will be moderated by Ralph Smithers (Assistant Vice President, Diversity and Community Relations at Encova Insurance) and will provide opportunities for City Year AmeriCorps members to share their service experiences. Following the panel discussion, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and interact with panelists.
Advancing Racial Equity Beyond 2020 is sponsored by COTA, Encova Insurance, Allliance Data and Ernst & Young. Interested attendees can register for the event online at secure.qgiv.com/for/cfvp/event/828866/.
