GREENCREST Celebrates 30 Years of Marketing Excellence

Columbus Chamber
The Columbus Chamber provides connections, resources and solutions that help small businesses and Fortune 500 enterprises grow Central Ohio's economy.

COLUMBUS, OH (September 30, 2020) — GREENCREST, the full-service marketing, advertising, public relations and digital agency in Columbus, is celebrating 30 years in business this year.

The agency specializes in developing and executing integrated marketing programs that increase market penetration and awareness for small- and mid-sized business across the country.

Founded in 1990 by CEO and chief strategy officer Kelly Borth, GREENCREST’s first client was R.E. Harrington, Inc., a healthcare administration services organization based in central Ohio. Since then, GREENCREST has grown to become a trusted business-to-business marketing firm, and today it serves a diverse range of clients in the B2B niche.

“I’m tremendously proud of the company that GREENCREST has become,” said CEO Kelly Borth. “The hard work, talent and dedication of our team is very much the reason we are able to do the high-level, excellent work that our clients know us for and trust us to deliver. I am looking forward to the future, continuing our quest to be the best at what we do, and growing our clients’ businesses.”

Since its early days, GREENCREST has adapted its full suite of services along with the changes in the industry. As the marketing and advertising field was disrupted by the media landscape shifting to digital and social media, GREENCREST emerged as an industry leader, succeeding and advancing through economic challenges like the dot-com bust, Y2K, 9/11, the Great Recession, and now COVID-19. Today the agency serves clients in 24 states, in a variety of industries, including industrial equipment and distribution, manufacturing, materials handling, HVAC, wealth and financial management, architecture, healthcare, legal services and software development.

Over the years, GREENCREST has earned numerous awards and honors, but the achievements Borth says she is most proud of are the client success stories. GREENCREST clients see significant revenue growth as a result of the agency’s work, including many clients who have enjoyed triple revenue growth and ascended into a market-leading position in their industry.

Consistent results like that led GREENCREST to trademark its slogan: We turn market players into industry leaders®. The agency is a thought leader itself in the marketing industry, with its monthly blog, “BrandPro;” its monthly podcast, “Ignite Your Business®;” and its columns in specialized trade and business publications. All are devoted to sharing expertise in marketing strategy and business leadership. Borth is one of only 35 brand strategists in North America, certified by The Brand Establishment. In addition, the firm has been a long-time supporter of the Conway Center for Family Business and routinely sponsors and hosts events such as the Ignite Your Family Business™ Roundtables.

The company is also committed to giving back to the central Ohio community. In 2007, GREENCREST opened a donor-advised fund at The Columbus Foundation called

GREENCREST Living Hope Foundation. It does just what the name says — it gives living hope to children and individuals in the community who might not otherwise have the resources to live to their fullest potential. In 2020, the GREENCREST Living Hope Foundation granted $40,000 during the Big Give to community organizations. In 2016, GREENCREST created the Culture Captain program, which allows team members to choose a non-profit organization and plan a team activity to benefit that organization. The GREENCREST team has made blankets for chemo patients at the James Cancer Center, collected and shelved food at the Worthington Resource Pantry, collected school supplies and backpacks for the Tom Fennessy/Mike Harden Back-to-School Project, and collected books to benefit The Center for Family Safety and Healing, just to name a few.

In 2020, GREENCREST adopted another woman-owned business, Munira, a family-owned leather accessories maker based in Grenada, Spain. Borth met Munira owner and designer Munira Mendonca during her travels and committed to making recommendations to the small brand to expand its digital footprint and evolve its brand for international customers.

GREENCREST is proud to currently be an active member of numerous organizations, including the Ohio, Columbus and Westerville chambers of commerce, as well as the Conway Center for Family Business, The International Women’s Forum, Women Presidents Organization, Chief Executives Board International, and Central Ohio Business and Wealth Planning Council.
