Columbus, OH – Youngstown Mayor Jamael Tito Brown has been appointed by his peers to serve on the Board of Directors of the Ohio Mayors Alliance, which is a bipartisan coalition of mayors in over two dozen of Ohio’s largest cities. Brown has served as the mayor of Youngstown and as a member of the Ohio Mayors Alliance since 2018.

“It’s an honor to be appointed to the Ohio Mayors Alliance Board of Directors,” said Youngstown Mayor Jamael Tito Brown. “The work that this organization has done to support our communities during this difficult year has been incredibly impactful. It has also given mayors a great forum to support each other, share innovative ideas, and promote the importance of bipartisan cooperation.”

“We’re thrilled to have Mayor Brown join the board and we know he will be a great addition to our bipartisan leadership team,” said Findlay Mayor Christina Muryn. “Mayor Brown’s collaborative approach will be a perfect fit for our continual efforts to build stronger partnerships with state and federal leaders.”

“It will be great to have such a strong leader representing the Mahoning Valley on our board,” said Columbus Mayor Andrew J. Ginther. “Mayor Whaley has been an incredible leader and partner in forming this bipartisan advocacy coalition. She will be greatly missed on the board, but we know Mayor Brown will step right in and continue her great work.”

Brown was appointed to serve in the vacancy on the board that was created when Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley announced her candidacy for Ohio Governor. Whaley was on the initial steering committee that formed the Ohio Mayors Alliance in 2016. While stepping down from her leadership position on the board, Mayor Whaley will remain a member of the coalition.

The Ohio Mayors Alliance nominating committee recommended Mayor Brown to the board. The nominating committee is comprised of the board members of the Ohio Mayors Alliance Foundation, former Governor Bob Taft, former Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman, and former Cleveland Mayor Jane Campbell, and Executive Director Keary McCarthy.

Brown will join the bipartisan Ohio Mayors Alliance Board, which also includes Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley, Columbus Mayor Andrew J. Ginther, Findlay Mayor Christina Muryn, Kettering Mayor Don Patterson, Lancaster Mayor David Scheffler, and Parma Mayor Tim DeGeeter.
